Sisters, Winters and Post - Holiday Malaise

Christmas Day, my sister flew into O'hare from Alaska, and she and I spend a few days with my friend, and shopped. What fun!
Then, we went to southern Illinois, where I grew up, and my other sister came from Seattle and we all hung out, visiting extended family and getting reacquainted.
The last time we three had been together was 12 years ago, and the time before that was almost 20 years ago!

We had fun, and have decided NEVER to go very long without seeing each other again!

While I was in southern Illinois, I stayed in a B & B- like hotel in the tiny town of Biggsville. It was called the Hotel Lynn, and the local folks take care of it and decorate it. If you are ever down that way and need accommodations on the cheap, then check out Hotel Lynn!

While there, I drove across the river to Burlington Iowa, to find a grocery store. I also found this gas station, called the Kum & Go.

Yeah.

I know.

Today's freebie has nothing to do with that. Instead, just comment, and I will choose one person at random to win this pinwheel magnet.
Post today and tomorrow, and I will pick on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Sounds like you had a fun time! I've got to get together with local people I haven't seen in a month with the holidays and all. That service station name is hysterical and with the liquor sign beneath...well, the sign installers had to be cracking up. Oh, and that pinwheel is really sweet looking. Throw me in the hat. :)

Tee Hee AntB, this Iowa girl loves those convenience store signs. I've been giggling at them for some 20 years or so now! I actually know of one that's located next to a Jiffy Lube auto repair in Ottumwa IA. I'm not making that up. How could anyone make that up?

Sounds like a great time with your sisters. My sis and I have been making a point of staying in touch pretty much weekly and see each other every year. It seems to get more and more important as we get older.

Wow!!!!!! AntB Pottery, I love your blog and especially the adventures of Grandma and Grandpa and their miniatures. The colors of your glazes look rich and layered. I am new to twitter and have connected through following and researching the potters on the site.

Oh dear me, I don't think Kum & Go existed during the 2 years I lived in Iowa in the late 70s -- I could never have forgotten a convenience store name like that! I LOVED seeing the picture of it.
