Autumnal Equinox Giveaway!

Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox,  is fast approaching.
The Free Dictionary says of Mabon:
According to Welsh legend, Mabon was a magical youth renowned for his hunting skills. His mother held him captive in a cave, but the warrior Culhwch, with the aid of several animals of the forest, came to the boy's rescue. For many present-day believers, Culhwch's search for Mabon symbolizes everyone's search for the inner child.
Typical Wiccan and Neo-pagan celebrations of Mabon, which take place throughout the world, are circle ceremonies that recognize various harvest themes.

For this Equinox celebration, I am giving away a tiny cauldron with a handmade pumpkin bead and a little broom.

This would be fine for a little travel altar.  Or, if you are searching for your inner child this autumn, you can use these in your dollhouse or Halloween miniature display.

You can also win a couple of handmade beads.

These are two stoneware and glass pendants.  They look quite nice with macrame or with chunky glass beads.

To be entered to win one of them (the cauldron set or the two beads) just leave a comment telling me which you would like to win -- the cauldron set or the beads.

If you would like to be entered to win both of them, let me know that too, and I will enter your name for both.

I will pick a winner from the comments for each prize using a random number generator.  The winner will be chosen and announced next Tuesday, September 25th.

And of course, don't forget to stop by my shops! Links to them are at the right.  Happy Mabon!

Decals part Two

The decals came out of the kiln.
There is good news, and bad news.
The good news is:
They worked!
The image came out quite clear, if a tiny bit bubbled.
The bad news is that the white glaze I used turned dull in the third firing, meaning it is unsuitable for decals.
Shoot.
Oh, well, I was wanting a warmer white anyway, not quite so stark of a white-white. I guess I will be adjusting my recipe, or searching for some new ones.
But the decal looks pretty good on this glaze, called Nutmeg:

Miniature Monday - What a Crock!

Sometimes Grandma Doll can't sleep. When that happens, she stays up late and watches infomercials. Last week Grandma watched an infomercial about a wonderful pot that every person needs. She tried to order one, but found that the company had gone out of business.

So, she contacted a certain grumpy, middle aged potter she knew and asked her to make one for the advertised price of three easy payments of 19.99 each.

The potter agreed.

But, when it arrived, Grandma Doll was disappointed. While it looked just right - dark blue and green, made of porcelain on a potter's wheel, .75 inches tall and .5 inches wide, with lid - it just wasn't right.

It wasn't right, because, unlike the one in the commercial, this pot did not magically fill with 'nourishing and delicious' food when left-overs were slow-cooked in it. In reality, when it was filled with left-overs and slow cooked all you got was a disgusting mess!

It was a defective crock! And Grandma should know, since she has been serving crock to her family for years. Why, the whole family knows crock when they see it, and that ain't it!

So they are selling this pot, at a discount. But, if you are a connoisseur of crock, this one may not be what you are looking for.

(Side Note: If you have no idea who Grandma and Grandpa Doll are, then you might want to read more about them here, in the miniature section of my shop. They get into all sorts things there!
(Other side Note, about yesterday's blog. The teapot is not the freebie. Sorry. Look for the LITTLE picture in the corner. Yeah, not as exciting. Sorry. :P)
